What is Gel-seal Minipleat HEPA filter and how to test it?

Gel type HEPA filter

Gel type HEPA filter is a kind of high efficiency Minipleated HEPA  filter, and it  is widely used in pharmaceutical, clean room end high efficiency air supply, laminar flow hood, hospital, food hygiene, microbiology and other advanced sealed space purification end, clean equipment and other installation forms, widely used in pharmaceutical industry.

The outer frame of gel-sealed minipleat HEPA filter is aluminum alloy, the thickness of aluminum alloy outer frame can be in different thickness: 69MM, 90MM, 93MM

Filter media: ultra-fine glass fiber filter paper.

Sealant: jelly glue.

Separator: hot melt adhesive

Protection  metal wire:  white steel mesh spraying

Working temperature: ≤70℃

Working temperature: ≤99℃

How to test the Gel type HEPA filter?

Test dust source is 0.3mm monodisperse phase DOP (plasticizer commonly used in the plastics industry) droplets. The “amount” is the degree of turbidity of the air containing DOP. The instrument used to measure the dust is a photometer (photometer). The turbidity difference of the air sample is used to determine the filtering efficiency of the filter for DOP particles.

The HEPA filter heats DOP liquid into vapor, which condenses into tiny droplets under specific conditions, leaving particles of about 0.3mm after removing oversized and undersized droplets, and the foggy DOP enters the air duct. The turbidity of the gas sample before and after the filter is measured, and the filter’s filtration efficiency of 0.3mm dust is judged from this.

HEPA filter DOP method has a history of more than 50 years, this method used to be the more common method to measure high-efficiency filter internationally.
